Classic Project: Detroit
With Big Sean releasing Detroit 2 this year, I had to revisit his first Detroit project. Being in high school, I remember Detroit being filled with nothing but good vibes and music. Coming back to it 8 years later, I can honestly say that this project stands the test of time and showed what Big Sean was capable of as an artist.
Coming out in 2012, Detroit was Big Sean's fourth mixtape. With 18 songs and features ranging from French Montana, J. Cole, Young Chop, Tyga, Chris Brown, Kendrick Lamar, King Chip, Juicy J, Wale, and Jhene Aiko, Sean delivered a wide range of different sounding songs with an extremely well thought out structure behind the project.
Whether it was song such as "Life Should Go", "Mula", "Higher", "24k", "Im Gonna Be", and "100", the mixtape had everything from feel good music, lyricism, high energy, and narration from Young Jeezy, Common, and Snoop Dogg.
