UFC Vegas 6
Last night UFC Vegas 6 took place with a great set of performances. Before I talk about how the main card took place, one fight that should discussed was the Holland vs Buckely match. Coming from UFC Vegas 5 where his opponent fainted before their debut, Kevin Holland took short notice opponent Joaquin Buckley and impressively TKO'd Buckley.
When looking at the main card, 3 fights took the show. The Darren Stewart and Maki Pitolo match up was one fight that should be mentioned when you talk about UFC Vegas 6.Darren Stewart was able to secure a submission over Maki Pitolo within the first round. Stewart was able to dedicate the win to his friend who recently passed away and discussed how he used his passing to win the fight. With such performance it peaks interest into what Stewart will be able to accomplish in his UFC career.
Following Stewart's victory, The co main event with Chris Weidman and Omari Akhmedov was a very interesting match up. Weidman was able to secure a win by taking Akhmedov down and by being dominant for 3 rounds. It may not appear as interesting but Weidman did what he needed to do to secure a win.
After Weidman's win, the main event with Derrick Lewis and Alexei Oleinik was great performance. Lewis came out with an explosive start however was on the ground for most of the first round. It appeared that Oleinik might secure a bulldog choke however, he was unsuccessful. Lewis was able to hit Oleinik with a knee, a big over hand right, and ground and pounded him into TKO in the second round.
